announce new pop-up of Ristobar
At Emporio Rulli Pasticceria at 464 Magnolia Ave.,
Larkspur, CA - Residents of Marin should prepare themselves for a new flavor in town. Emporio
Rulli has announced that they are bringing the flavors of their Northern Italian, San Francisco
restaurant, Ristobar to downtown Larkspur. These pop-up evenings will be ongoing throughout
the summer on select weekends while the Marina location on the corner of Chestnut and Scott
Street is being retrofitted with a target re-opening date of late August.
Ristobar is an authentic Northern Italian restaurant that fuses the old-world traditions of Italian
cooking with modern techniques while showcasing the abundance of local ingredients
available in the Bay Area, including vegetables, fruits and herbs grown in Gary Rulli’s own
Marin backyard garden. Specialities include Insalatina di Polpo as an appetizer course
featuring octopus, green beans, fennel, celery, taggiasca olives, toasted pine nuts in a lemon
dressing with an English pea puree. First course options include Plin Piemontesi - a house
made pasta with braised meat filling including veal, pork, rabbit and spinach in a veal
reduction and Parmigiano sauce. Second course specialties such as the outstanding
Ippoglasso dish - an Alaskan halibut with asparagus cream, hazelnut flavored endive and squid
ink focaccia. Naturally, the dessert dishes shine in Rulli’s kitchen featuring dishes like
Macedonia Estiva made of macerated summer fruits in a passion fruit, mango, and marjoram
infused syrup, crema gelato and hazelnut cialde.
Each dinner will be hosted on select weekends with 3 seatings at 5:30PM, 6:30PM and 8PM
for $60 per person including this Friday 6.15 and Saturday 6.16 in honor of Father’s Day
followed by 6.29 and 6.30.
Each event will host a new prix-fix menu with 2 options including one vegetarian option
featuring dishes expected to debut on the Ristobar menu upon reopening under the chef
Marcello Franceschini. Franceschini was Ristobar’s sous chef working alongside Michele
Belotti and also worked a brief stage with Ristobar’s original James Beard winning chef, Angelo
Auriana as well as Piero Selvaggio from noteworthy Valentino. Rulli welcomes Franceschini
back to the Bay Area after 3 years spent in Italy working with Michelin rated chef Massimo
Camia in Piedmont to take the reigns of the Ristobar kitchen upon it’s reopening. Upon
reopening, Ristobar will be bringing back it’s famed classic dishes as well as debuting many
new options with guest chef appearances including Angelo Auriana, Michele Belotti and
several other visiting, famous, Michelin rated chefs from Italy that Gary or Marcello have
worked with previously.
